Brown Sugar Ham
A holiday ham with the oven free for everything else. That is worth more in December than the recipe itself.

What goes in
- 7 lb bone-in spiral-cut ham, fully cooked
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
- 1/2 cup pineapple juice
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon 路 1/4 tsp ground cloves
It is already cooked
A spiral ham is cured and cooked before you buy it. You are only warming it through and glazing it, so five hours on low is plenty and longer just dries it out.
How to make it
- Check the ham fits your pot with the lid closed. Trim the end flat if it does not.
- Whisk the brown sugar, honey, mustard, pineapple juice, cinnamon and cloves into a glaze.
- Sit the ham in the pot cut side down and pour the glaze over, working some between the slices.
- Lid on. Low 5 hours or high 3 hours, until it reads 140F at the centre.
- Spoon the glaze from the bottom of the pot back over it every hour or so if you are around.
- Lift it onto a board, let it rest 10 minutes, and serve the glaze from the pot as a sauce.
Swap it
If your ham is bigger than the pot, buy a half ham instead of forcing it. A splash of bourbon in the glaze is a good addition.
